Frequently Asked Questions

  • What to expect during the first intake appointment?

The intake appointment is the first step in understanding what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your background, including personal history, family dynamics and any significant life events or experiences that may be relevant to your current concerns. The intake appointment is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions or share pertinent information that may be helpful with getting to know you better.

  • How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions are approximately 50 minutes but may be shorter or longer depending on your needs and current circumstances.

  • How frequently do I have to attend therapy?

The frequency of therapy sessions varies depending on your needs and availability. Initially, sessions may be scheduled weekly or biweekly to establish rapport. As you progress in therapy, sessions may become less frequent (i.e. every two weeks or once a month) as you work towards your goals and develop coping skills.

  • How is progress in therapy measured?

We will work together on developing a treatment plan based on your needs and goals for therapy. This plan may include an estimate of the number of sessions needed to achieve your desired outcomes, although this can evolve over time based on your progress and evolving needs. Throughout therapy, I will periodically assess your progress and reassess your treatment goals and needs. Based on this ongoing assessment, adjustments may be made to the frequency and duration of sessions as needed to ensure that therapy remains effective and relevant to your goals.
